Paul Chapman’s Greenvale showcased its offensive potency in a thumping 114-point victory over Glenroy in EDFL Premier Division on Saturday.

With the fourth-placed Jets locked in a battle with Pascoe Vale and Strathmore for the last two spots in the top four, the 25.11 (161) to 7.5 (47) gave them a valuable percentage boost.

Greenvale, which has an 8-6 record, will meet Airport West, Keilor, Strathmore and Avondale Heights in the remaining rounds of the home-and-away campaign.

While Fort Caruso will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury and skipper Addam Maric was sidelined at the weekend, the Jets were helped by the inclusions of Nick Maric, Ryan Townsend, Nat Caruso and Laurence King.

They produced a consummate team performance away from home, slamming on 11 goals to two in the first half to kill the contest.

“It was a fantastic win. The guys played solid footy from the first bounce until the final siren,” Greenvale coach Paul Chapman said.

“It was a good win, but I think more the way we played an executed the game plan was very pleasing.”

Ryan Mills booted seven goals for the winners to take his season tally to 20, while Jacob Thompson and Courtenay Dempsey bagged four goals apiece and Nick Maric three.

Midfielder Joshua Smith and defender Sam Zumbo were also prominent.

“I think he might have had 12 shots on goal,” Chapman said of Mills.

“His form probably didn’t say it a month ago, but he was always in the game — he just probably couldn’t get on the end of a few of them.

“When you’ve got 18 guys who are owning their positions and setting up and playing the way we want to play, I think we’re a hard team to beat.”

While the Jets have had a mixed run in 2019, their biggest defeat came against Pascoe Vale (by 43 points) in Round 10.

They have also lost to Aberfeldie twice (by 30 points and 22 points), Keilor (nine points), Strathmore (nine points) and Maribyrnong Park (12 points).

But Greenvale’s percentage of 128.79 is the third best in the competition.

“We’ve been very competitive, even when we’ve been losing,” Chapman said.

“We’ve had a truckload of injuries and the young guys who have stepped in have really stepped up and performed their role really well. They’ve got their chance and taken it.

“I feel like our last three or four weeks, win or loss, we’ve been building and we’re starting to find our best form, which is great.”
