Glenroy has set the ambitious target of doubling its wins tally in 2019 after an encouraging first season in the top flight of the EDFL.
The Roys won four games in Premier Division last year and finished eighth on the ladder after claiming the Division 1 flag the previous season.

PREMIER DIVISION CLUB NOT CONCERNED BY DOOMSAYERS
While coach Ross Terranova said his club would not be making any “outrageous statements”, Glenroy is quietly confident it will be competitive against the competition’s elite.
“I think we’ve still got 13 or 14 players who played in our premiership,” Terranova said.
“That’s saying something about the footy club that we’re able to retain our list, work with our list and make sure we can progress. That’s our plan of attack.
“We’re targeting what we think is reasonable, which is eight wins. You never know, you may end up with a couple more and you end up knocking on the door of the finals.
“We got a good understanding of (Premier Division) last year from a playing perspective, coaching perspective and club perspective.
“When you’ve got a young group you can work with, they want to learn and want to be challenged.”
Jonty Neaves, who was best afield in Eaglehawk’s Bendigo league grand final win last season, has put pen to paper with the Roys.
Neaves trained with the club last year and can fill a role in the ruck, as a forward or defender.
Midfielder/half-forward Anthony Greaney has returned, while Coburg VFL-listed midfielder Jack Sandric will be an aligned player. Kent Beaumont (Reservoir), Jack Wallace (Merrigum) and Michael Di Martino (Greenvale) have also arrived.
Matthew Willox and Lachie Waite have departed.
“We’re still in discussions with two or three at the moment,” Terranova said.
“We’ve got a few boys from Wangaratta who are training with us and all that sort of stuff. They’re playing up there and committed up there, but it lifts the standard with us.”
Glenroy will be hoping to see more of skipper and star backman Travis Dulic this season after he was limited to nine appearances this year.
Terranova also expects Jack Thorogood and Wallace to play key roles in the defensive half after his side leaked an average of over 107 points a game in 2018.
Tanner Nilsson, Steve Golding, Beaumont and Di Martino have been the standouts on the track.
“We’re giving these kids a go and see what they’re like, put them under the pressure-cooker, and hopefully they can fit into the group,” Terranova said.
“At the moment, we think we’ll have 28-30 blokes that will play senior football this year. We know that already.
“That’s a positive sign, and they’re young blokes and hopefully we can develop them as we get further into it.”
