DIVISION 2 is the likely destination for Sunbury Kangaroos should it vote to join the Essendon District Football League on Monday.
The Riddell District Football League club has held discussions with the EDFL in recent months about a potential switch, with its members to vote on the proposal next week.

EDFL chief executive Craig Armstead said the league had left the door ajar for Sunbury Kangaroos to seek admission to Division 1, the second tier of the competition.
However, the club would likely start in Division 2, which would be a nine-team competition in 2019 with the addition of Sunbury Kangaroos and Keilor Park.
“We have had some conversations with them around Division 1 and Division 2, what level they think they could come into within the EDFL,” Armstead said.
“If it gets up at the vote, we will see what they request to come into. I know they came down and watched a number of our finals to get a sense of what level of competition Div 1 and Div 2 were at.”
At least 75 per cent of the Sunbury Kangaroos members present at Monday’s vote will have to favour a move to the EDFL for it to be given the green light.
“The feedback they are getting, they have got a really strong response and support from members to the move,” Armstead said.
“My understanding is, under their constitution they have got to have 75 per cent or more vote for it. It’s still a pretty significant number.
“The feedback I have had from them is they are confident, but you never really know.”
Sunbury Leader revealed talks between Sunbury Kangaroos and the EDFL had taken place in July, with the club’s struggles to field netball teams a key factor.
EDFL clubs are not required to enter netball sides.
Armstead said discussions were ongoing with Keilor Park, which withdrew its senior and reserves teams this year and went into recess.
A 10-9-9 model is favoured if both clubs are admitted.
“If we got to 10-9-9 then we could have a full 18 rounds in Division 1 and 2, everyone gets a bye as well as playing the other eight teams,” Armstead said.
