Three state-league players have landed at a WGFNC club

A West Gippsland competition club has made an off-season statement, securing three state league players. Here are the details.

It’s a triple threat.

West Gippsland Competition club Warragul Industrials has signed experienced stars Goy Lok, Noah Gown and Tyson Milne for 2025.

Lok played at Norwood in the SANFL this year but has played at Casey, Frankston and Sandringham in the VFL previously.

He worked at Port Adelaide but is returning to Melbourne and will be a Dustie full time.

Gown, who spent two seasons on Essendon’s list, and Milne will continue at Frankston and play for the Dusties on byes.

“It’s probably the best haul of recruits we’ve had since Singy (coach Harmit Singh) started,” Dusties footy operations manager Dylan Smith said.

“The good thing about these recruits is that they’re all connected to our current list, it’s not like we’re getting people from out of town.

“Getting these A-Grade players, I think that’s a rarity for any club to pull that off so we’re excited.

“We’ve got nine or 10 kids coming up from the thirds, so these guys will work with those kids and show them what it’s all about.”

The Dusties won seven matches this season after 11 wins in 2023.

Smith said the recruits headlined a fresh start at the club.

“Expectations are always pretty high at the Dusties, we don’t like losing,” he said.

“With these players, there’s no pressure because we’ve lost some quality, but we expect to make finals.

“It’s a fresh start with our new coaches, we were at the end of the Singhy era and he did such a great job building the club but we were at the end of that cycle.

“I think the end of that period, which we thought was successful, we built our juniors, played finals but we thought we were a bit burnt out.

“It’s a whole new coaching staff, a change of personnel and a fresh vibe around the joint – having these guys come in is only going to help that.”
