North Shore sporting clubs are mourning the loss of one of their most beloved members.
Mick Bell, who was involved with the cricket and football netball clubs, died on Wednesday after a long health battle.
During his time with the Seagulls during the footy and netball season, he had served as a committee member for over a decade, including taking on the role of facilities manager.
Bell’s daughter, Amy, said in a social media comment: “The club meant everything to my dad, I will be forever grateful for the love and friendships he has made over the years, thank you all for the love and support”.
The Seagulls shared their own memories of Bell.
“Most importantly a cherished friend to many at our club,” North Shore FNC said in a social media post.
“His passion for North Shore as a whole and his generous spirit will leave a legacy that will last beyond his years.”
The cricket club paid tribute to Bell as a man who helped “bring Seagulls cricket back”.
“Mick was not only a valued member and past committee member but also a cherished friend to many at our club,” a social media post said.
“His passion for North Shore as a whole and his generous spirit left a lasting impact on all club members his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.”
Others were quick to share their own memories of Bell including Mitchell Travis who had shared the timekeeping duties when their respective clubs faced off.
“You have, and will always be, one of the best timekeepers in the GFNL,” he wrote.
“I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed our chats, especially if it involved North Melbourne because I, and everyone at North Shore, knew how much you loved your Kangaroos.”
