The Picola and District league is growing again.

The league has confirmed Dookie United will return to the competition after being accepted to rejoin for the 2025 season, taking the total number of teams to 16.

For the past seven years, Dookie has been competing in the Kyabram and District league making the finals in 2023 and in their first year in 2018.

In 2018 the team won one final, which to date, is their only success in the league.

The Dooks competed in the Picola league from 2006 to 2017, winning the premiership in 2007.

The Picola league has confirmed the team will now return next year.

“The Picola league is pleased to announce that Dookie United will be returning to the PDFNL for season 2025 and beyond,” the statement said.

“The timing of this announcement is to provide the best opportunity for all parties to plan for 2025 and beyond.”

It’s the second straight year a team has moved to the Picola league with Tocumwal returning last year after playing in the Murray league.

With the Picola league not affiliated with the AFL all that was needed to make the move was to get the support of the league and the clubs.

The KDFNL is now down to 13 sides with the move from the Dooks.
