They’re the hidden country footy gems from the Mildura region in the Sunraysia and Millewa competitions. Here’s 30 of the best.

The Sunraysia region is home to some of the best hidden gems in country footy.

Nestled in the sunshine, in and around Mildura, the football talent continues to grow.

Here’s a look at some of the best players from across the Sunraysia and Millewa competitions.

Jarrod Brander, Wentworth (Sunraysia)

The former West Coast and GWS player has immediately found form in the Sunraysia league, being one of the league’s top goalscorers. He has kicked 61 goals from 14 matches.

Daniel Coghlan, Irymple (Sunraysia)

The former best and fairest has had another strong season for Irymple. He kicked more than a goal a game and was named in the best 12 times.

Gareth Collinson, Gol Gol (Millewa)

Limited to just four games last year, the Hawks forward has made the most of his opportunities this season with 75 goals.

Isaac Corvo, Robinvale Euston (Sunraysia)

A new recruit from Queensland, with VFL experience, Corvo has fitted in perfectly to help the Eagles rise. He played 17 games and been in the best in 12.

Jermarl Daly, Ouyen United (Sunraysia)

In his first full season of the Kangaroos, Daly has shined from half back and the midfield. He was in the best 12 out of 16 times.

Damien Ford, Cardross (Millewa)

Ford has picked up from where he left off last season with another year of good footy. Has 29 goals.

Bailey Fotia, South Mildura (Sunraysia)

The new recruit has been one of the best for South Mildura this season. The former South Australian player was among the best in seven out of 15 games, playing in the midfield for the Bulldogs.

Liam Garlick, Irymple (Sunraysia)

The small forward knows how to kick a goal. Averaged almost two goals a game.

Blaine Grills, Nangiloc (Millewa)

A move to a new cub has proven to have major dividends for Grills who has played a key role for Nangiloc.

Jason Hura, Bambill (Millewa)

It’s been an impressive debut season for Hura who crossed from the Sunraysia league. He booted 31 goals and was named in the best 10 times.

Tanan Hurley, Imperials (Sunraysia)

Hurley had his best season in the Sunraysia league, being one of the best players for Imperials.

Isaiah Johnson, Robinvale Euston (Sunraysia)

One of the Eagles stars this year with 88 goals so far. The small forward has terrorised opposition defences.

Clay Kerr, Gol Gol (Millewa)

Now with over 100 games for the club to his name, Kerr has cemented himself as one of the most consistent players in the competition.

Sam Kerridge, Mildura (Sunraysia)

On and off the field the former Carlton and Adelaide has been instrumental in guiding the Mildura Demons towards the top of the Sunraysia league. 

Josh Koster, South Mildura (Sunraysia)

One of the best for South Mildura this year. The son of former Adelaide premiership player, Kym Koster, the former SANFL player kicked 11 goals in 15 games and was among the best in nine games.

Ricardo Liparota, Robinvale Euston (Sunraysia)

A talented young player who enjoyed his best season of senior footy.

Korey Loechel, Merbein (Sunraysia)

Kicked 64 goals for the year in an impressive debut campaign for his new club.

Jack Manson, Wentworth (Sunraysia)

A dominant season with 16 mentions in the best from 17 games. Among the best players in the competition.

Anthony Matthews, Mildura (Sunraysia)

Came out of retirement in January and provided the Demons with a huge boost. Celebrated his 250th club game this season. Booted 42 goals.

Francesco Miceli, Cardross (Millewa)

Had a brilliant season across all areas of the game, kicking more than 50 goals for the season.

Tyson Old, Red Cliffs (Sunraysia)

The former VFL and Northern league player returned home in style to be one of the best for the Tigers this year. 

Nick Pezzaniti, Irymple (Sunraysia)

One of the more talented forwards in the competition this season. Has 35 goals to his name.

Jake Roberts, Bambill (Millewa)

Celebrated his 100th game for the club earlier this season. The Bambill skipper was consistently among his side's better players.

Mitch Rogerson, Mildura (Sunraysia)

Been one of the best midfielders in the competition this season. The former VAFA and Essendon District player has been in the best 10 times.

Vas Tuifao, Red Cliffs (Sunraysia)

Reliable week in and week out for the Tigers and has been a major presence in the forward line this season. 

Andy Wall, Wentworth (Sunraysia)

Now a veteran at the Kangaroos but it hasn’t stopped him from being a pillar in defence. 

Dallas Willsmore, Ouyen United (Sunraysia)

The former AFL player for Hawthorn might not be kicking the same amount of goals as last year, but the 28-year-old is still among the best for his home team.
