The Castlemaine Football Netball Club is calling on the sporting community to #putyourbootsoutforDallas to honour its teenage footballer who died suddenly after a game last weekend.

Under-18 footballer Dallas Keogh-Frankling lost his life after an away game at Kyneton last weekend.

After being tackled, he got up but later collapsed in the change rooms and died.

Now Castlemaine has launched an online campaign to show its love and support for Dallas’ family.

“You can #putyourbootsoutforDallas by taking a photo, sharing to your socials and using the hashtag so that our community can see your support in real time,” the club said in a social media post.

“Let’s create a movement to honour Dal and show his family that we are thinking of them.”

Meanwhile, all Bendigo league teams and players will wear black armbands this Saturday to commemorate the life of the Castlemaine teenager.

The league has announced all of this weekend’s matches go ahead following last week’s tragic events.

All games will observe a minute’s silence to remember Keogh-Frankling, Bendigo league manager Cameron Tomlins confirmed.

“We encourage all teams, all grades, to observe a minutes' silence and wear black armbands,” he said.

“We got permission from Castlemaine Football Club and Dallas’ family to do that as a mark of respect.

“The support for Dallas has been overwhelming, so we anticipate all matches to do it.”

The only question mark for the round’s fixture surround Castlemaine and Kyneton’s under-17 netball and under-18 football matches against Golden Square and Eaglehawk respectively.

All four matches will be played at this stage but there remains a possibility those contests could be called off.

“(We can cancel) on the day if we need to,” Tomlins said.

“We’re conscious on match day, when players walk into rooms it could trigger feelings that the match may not go ahead.

“We’ll give all teams enough time to make a decision on participating.”

Meanwhile the game abandoned between Castlemaine and Kyneton in seniors will not be rescheduled for later in the season, and remain declared as abandoned.

As the game did not get to half time both teams will receive two points with the score at the time, 27-8 in favour of Kyneton, being used to determine the percentage of both teams.
