VIC Metro coach Marty Allison believes Collingwood Next Generation Academy prospect Isaac Quaynor is ready to make an immediate transition to AFL football.

The Oakleigh Chargers defender’s form across the under-18 national championships has helped elevate him to be a top-15 draft prospect, last week named in the All Australian team.

Allison said the dependable defender had the attributes needed to have an impact at the top level in 2019.

Collingwood will have the first shot at Quaynor through the NGA but the Magpies could be forced to match an early bid on the Beverley Hills junior.

“I think Isaac is really competitive, he could probably play in Collingwood’s side on the weekend,” Allison said.

“He’s got a really good physique on him, he’s fit enough, he’s strong enough, he’s competitive enough.

“I think Collingwood are going to be really happy about the player they are going to get, he’s going to be ready to play.”

Quaynor missed the Vic Country clash on June 23 because of a fractured rib but returned for the final game of the championships against South Australia, averaging 17 disposals and four rebound 50s in his three games to reinforce his status as one of the most reliable defenders in the draft pool.

Possible Collingwood father-son pick Will Kelly, son of premiership ’Pie Craig, enjoyed a strong championships, averaging 15 disposals in defence.

Chargers’ teammates Joseph Ayton-Delaney also finished as one of Vic Metro’s leading possession winners, averaging 19 disposals across his three games.

Possible Carlton father-son Ben Silvagni, son of Carlton great Stephen and brother of Jack, built on his promising start to the TAC Cup season, showing some versatility at either end of the ground.

“He’s got that ability to go forward and back and be a really worthwhile contributor,” Allison said of Silvagni.

“I’m really pleased with Ben, I think Carlton, they’ve got a decision to make about having another father-son and I think he’d be very worthwhile.”

Strong-bodied midfielder Riley Collier-Dorkins, listed at 193cm and 88kg, has also been touted as a possible first-round selection.

“He’s a big-bodied midfielder and clubs are looking at those types of players with Patrick Cripps and Nat Fyfe and those types,” Allison said.

“I’m sure there would be clubs really keen to get him into their programs so they can put some weight on him, invest a lot of craft, stoppage craft, and then try to get him on the outside with a few balls.”
