Coburg smashed its offensive struggles, routing Frankston by 75 points on Sunday, to claim its first win in 281 days.
The Lions’ 20.18 (138) to 9.9 (63) win at Piranha Park was the club’s highest score in six years and first VFL victory since the Round 15 win over the Dolphins last year.
In his 50th game for the club, co-captain Peter McEvoy kicked six goals and collected 22 disposals while Lochlan Dickson and Kane Noonan were also prolific.

The Lions made a wasteful start, kicking 3.9 in the opening term, but fared better in the second quarter booting six goals to three, despite Frankston kicking with a strong breeze.
A nine-goal third-quarter burst put the game to bed and coach Leigh Adams was rapt with the complete performance.
“It’s probably the first time in a while we’ve played four quarters of footy. To win every quarter was nice,” he said.
“Looking back, I think it was the highest score Coburg’s kicked in six years. It’s been a focus for us for us over the pre-season with our ball movement to try and put more scores on the board.”
McEvoy was dominant around the ground while Sam Lowson continued his strong start to the season with three majors and is now on AFL radars ahead of the mid-season draft on May 27.
“It was a really good reward (for Peter). He’s been a loyal player for the club for a long time,” Adams said.
“(Sam’s) a really dangerous forward. There’s no many that can match up on him because he’s so quick and so strong and pretty good overhead.
“If he had have kicked straight he’d be a long way in front in the leading goalkicking for the competition but he’s just having a couple of little issues with his set shots at the moment.
“I think it’d be a great asset to the footy club if he was to get picked up in the mid-season draft.”

After a heart-breaking loss to Collingwood in Round 1 and six-goal loss to Werribee in Round 2, it was exactly the performance Coburg needed ahead of a tough Round 4 trip to reigning premiers Box Hill.
Adams said finding consistent football week-to-week was his focus early in the season.
“Footy’s a funny game, you are never going as bad as you think you are when you’re losing games of footy and you’re never going as well as you think you are when you’re winning,” he said.
“We want to be a consistent VFL team and at the moment we’ve probably played one good one, one poor one, one good one.
“To put two good games together is at the forefront of our mind and make sure we turn up and play a competitive game against Box Hill.”
