Coburg has secured what it believes is one of the recruiting coups of the VFL off-season.
Delisted Richmond key forward Callum Moore will call Piranha Park home in 2020 in a massive boost to the Lions’ hopes of climbing the ladder.
A key forward to assist co-captain Peter McEvoy was one of the club’s major recruiting needs and Coburg general manager Seb Spagnuolo said Moore fitted the bill.

“It’s very exciting for us, we think it’s one of the biggest signings of the VFL off-season,” Spagnuolo said.
“He’s 23, a key forward who can swing back, he’s been in a successful program and we can’t believe he didn’t get on another AFL list.
“Callum was a key target for our club, being a former Calder Cannons and coming from the local area.”
Moore is the third former Richmond player to cross to Coburg, joining Jacob Ballard and Tom Silvestro.
Drafted out of Aberfeldie and Calder Cannons with pick No.12 in the 2016 rookie draft, Moore made eight AFL appearances for the Tigers.
The 193cm goalkicker booted 12.9 in nine VFL games this season and was a member of Richmond’s VFL premiership.
Spagnuolo said there was genuine positivity around the club after a strong recruiting campaign.
“There’s a real positive vibe around our football club. (Coach) Andrew (Sturgess) has been selling our football club really well,” he said.
“We’ve targeted good people, first and foremost, and players that want to be a part of something exciting at our club.
“We’re really excited by the conversations we’ve had with Callum. He wants to do what’s best for the team and play whatever role our coaching staff need him to play.”
The Lions will finalise their list after Christmas with a host of NAB League graduates training over summer in the hope of winning a VFL contract.
Under new league rules, non-AFL aligned clubs can list up to 46 players, including 40 primary-listed players and six from the under-19 development list.
The club is also in discussions with key players Sam Lowson and Lochie Dickson for 2020 after the pair were overlooked in last month’s drafts.
