Mornington Peninsula league clubs have recruited well, but there’s also been plenty of notable departures.
A plethora of key players have moved on to other leagues.
Ex-AFL star Dayne Beams has left Pearcedale, joining Murray league club Mulwala where his father, Phil, won seven best and fairests.
Karingal co-captain Dale Alanis and Langwarrin leaders Blake Peach and Josh Bateman have signed with West Gippsland club Koo Wee Rup.
Alanis will be Koo Wee Rup’s playing senior coach.
Former AFL-Saint Sam Dunell has left Bonbeach and joined Southern league premier Cheltenham. Bonny have also farewelled leading goal kicker Trent Dennis-Lane, who has gone to Dingley. He kicked 280 goals in 94 games for the Sharks and played a crucial role in a side that played off in two grand finals.
After a sizzling 2023 season with Seaford, ex-AFL Saint Jack Lonie has also joined Cheltenham.
Frankston YCW champion Kyle Hutchison, influential in eight flags, has gone to Nick Jewell’s premiership-winning East Brighton in Southern league.
Mt Eliza young gun Finn Emile-Brennan has headed west to further his career, linking with South Adelaide in the SANFL. He played 13 games in Mt Eliza’s seniors last year.
Pines’ ex-AFL forward Aaron Edwards has joined Healesville in the Outer East league.
MPFNL Division 2 premiers Mornington has lost key position men Jackson Calder (Dimboola) and Matt North (Palm Beach Currumbin) as well as Will Goosey (Toora).
Karingal’s exciting forward Darcy Hope has signed with Corowa-Rutherglen in the Ovens and Murray league, along with fellow Bulls Scott Jansen and Connor Leslie.
