Montmorency has pulled off another stunning recruiting coup, securing Alex Fasolo on a full-time contract.
The former Collingwood and Carlton goalsneak will join good friend Ben Kennedy at the NFL Division 1 club after retiring from AFL football.
After being drafted by the Magpies at pick No. 45 in 2010, Fasolo played 101 AFL games and booted 133 goals in black and white before one season (three games, two goals) in navy blue.

The Western Australian native kicked 14.9 in 16 VFL games for the Northern Blues this season.
Montmorency coach Garry Ramsay was rapt to add more AFL talent to the club’s list.
“It’s exciting for the club. It’s fantastic to have him on board,” Ramsay said.
“He’s good mates with Ben (Kennedy) and also Matt Hunt.
“We identified four positions that we needed to target to improve on from last season.
“We feel with Ben coming back — we consider him a Monty fella — and Alex … we’re comfortable we’ve filled some of those needs.”
Along with Kennedy and Hunt, Fasolo’s links with Montmorency major sponsor Damien Long played a role in luring the small forward to the club after Long had sponsored him at Carlton.
The Magpies already boast arguably the competition’s best key forward in representative full forward Pat Fitzgerald.
Kennedy, Fasolo and fellow recruit Tom Michael will give the Magpies one of the most dangerous forward lines in Division 1.
Michael, a 195cm key forward, arrives from Geelong league club St Albans and has NEAFL experience with Redlands.
Ramsay said the recruiting spree would increase expectations for next year.
“The list we’ve put together should be the equivalent of other sides,” he said.
“We want to finish top three and give ourselves the best chance (of chasing a premiership).”
Montmorency will begin the 2020 season on the road against Northcote Park and Hurstbridge in the opening fortnight.
