A sporting club in Melbourne’s west has been rocked by the second death of a popular member of its community this year.
Mother-of-three Bekk Duggan who was part of the Melton Football Netball Club died suddenly earlier this week.
During her time with the club, Duggan had taken on roles on the football field, netball court and recently had joined the committee.
“Bekk has been with the club for a number of years as a player, both footy and netball, trainer and more recently joining our committee,” Melton said in a statement.
“Bekk was often the life of the party and her presence around the club will be sorely missed.”
Duggan had been a trainer throughout this season as the Bloods made a stunning run to the Ballarat league senior football premiership.
Her bright personality made her popular among the club community.
One club person said “great character, person and will always remember as the life of the club”.
Another wrote: “only got to know her for a short time but she was such an amazing person”.
Earlier this year, Melton lost senior footballer Billy Sullivan who died suddenly in June.
The club played against Sunbury in the days following the tragic loss.
“He was definitely a character, one of a kind,” Melton president Matthew Kerr said of Sullivan.
“Infectious, seemed very happy all the time, always smiling. Loved a joke.”
