The AFL Yarra Ranges Commission has announced the venues for this season’s finals with Yarra Glen getting the nod for the Division 1 grand final and Healesville the Division 2 season-decider.
The league decided upon neutral venues for senior football finals and, with Healesville and Woori Yallock still in the race, those two venues were ruled out for this year’s Division 1 grand final.
AFL YARRA RANGES MOVES GRAND FINAL TO FRIDAY
In announcing the finals venues, the league said: “This year we had a limited number of grounds available, which has made some scheduling difficult. The resurfacing of Warburton’s ground, building works at Monbulk and Gembrook’s Netball Courts needing repair were key factors in them not being available”.
This season will mark the last finals series under the existing AFL Yarra Ranges structure with six South-East Football Netball League clubs joining to create the AFL Outer East competition in 2019.
This season will also be a trailblazing one with the league to hold its Division 1 grand final on the AFL Grand Final-eve public holiday on Friday, September 28
