Yarra Junction repeated its grand final domination of Seville when it scored a thumping win in Saturday’s AFL Outer East Division 2 clash at the Yarra Junction Football Ground.

The Eagles set the seal on an 88-point win when an eight-goal second quarter had it stampeding to the final siren, 27.15 (177) to 13.11 (89).

“We match up really well against them,” Yarra Junction coach Johnno Holmes said. “But I think we batted a bit deeper across the ground yesterday. We won in most positions and I said to the boys after the game I was really happy with that, they played a real team-orientated game.”

With Yarra Junction facing matches against Yarra Glen, Kinglake and Powelltown in the next five weeks, a win over a finals rival took on added importance.

“It’s (the competition) a lot tighter this year, I really don’t think we’ll know the top five until the last round,” Holmes said. “We’ve got a tough month of footy ahead of us, so that (win) was important”
