The Geelong Football Netball League will have an official ‘opening round’ for the first time as AFL Barwon unveiled the 2025 fixtures for the Geelong, Bellarine and Colac & District competitions.
‘Round 0’ of the Geelong league will kick off on April 5 with Colac taking on Bell Park and Newtown & Chillwell facing St Joseph’s a week before round one on April 12.

It is not a foreign concept for the league with North Shore shifting one of its games to the week before the scheduled start date for the past two seasons.
The Bellarine and Colac & District leagues will kick off on April 5, while the senior/under 18 female football begins on April 12.
The Geelong competition will finish on the AFL grand final public holiday after more than 10,000 spectators attended this year’s grand final at GMHBA Stadium.
South Barwon will host Leopold in a grand final rematch at McDonald Reserve in round six and St Joseph’s in a Friday afternoon Anzac Day blockbuster in round two.
St Mary’s plays two consecutive Sunday clashes against St Joseph’s and North Shore in round six and seven, while Geelong West hosts another two Sunday games against Grovedale and North Shore.
