Electronic devices including an Apple iMac are set to be analysed as a Bendigo man faces court over a string of child sex charges
John Victor Finn, 67, appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and he was further remanded on bail to reappear on March 20 for the matter to committed to the County Court.
Magistrate Trieu Huynh declined media applications for the charges to be released due to the nature of the accusations but the court has confirmed Mr Finn was facing child sex allegations.
Defence lawyer Kate Freshwater said the committal could not go ahead as she was still waiting for full evidence.
Electronic devices, including an Apple iMac that has been seized, were yet to be analysed.
The court heard the complainant had a cognitive impairment and lived in a “facility”.
The extent of impairment is in question, however Mr Huynh said the County Court had said the issue of cognitive impairment should be interpreted more broadly.
He said the case met the threshold for it to be transferred to the County Court.
