A QUICKFIRE flood that hit parts of Bayside this afternoon was over in a flash, traders say.
Several parts of our area were hit by large rainfall and hailstones, causing flooding in Hampton St, Hampton, parts of Beach Rd, Sandringham, and some residential streets.
Hampton St Traders Association president Rob Grinter said it was over very quickly, with some stores receiving damage from water inundation.
He said large hailstones accompanied the stormy weather.
“They are some of the biggest hailstones I have seen for a while,” Mr Grinter said.
“There was some flash flooding; I know the hardware store got hit and a couple of cafes too.
“But now, just a couple of hours later, it is 99 per cent clear and you need sunglasses on as it’s so bright and dry.”
He said it really was four seasons in one day.
Beaumaris Community Hub Facebook members took several pictures and videos of the watery weather.
SES spokeswoman Sally Lowenstein said Bayside had had “a bit of activity” this afternoon.
She said there had been 11 calls for assistance in the Bayside and Moorabbin SES area, mainly between 2pm and 3pm.
