St Kilda assault: 94-year-old man assaulted on The Esplanade

A police hunt is on for a man who attacked a 94-year-old who was out and about in St Kilda late at night.

Police have called for the person behind a vicious late-night assault on a 94-year-old man in St Kilda to hand himself in.

The elderly man suffered minor injuries following the incident near an apartment complex on The Esplanade about 12.10am on Monday, February 7.

Officers believe the man was walking out of the complex when he was attacked by an unknown man and fell to the ground.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been released.

St Kilda senior sergeant Warwick Cahir said the 94-year-old was “understandably shaken” and lucky to not have been seriously injured in the incident.

Sen Sgt Cahir called for the attacker to “consider his actions” and contact the station.

He has been described as being of caucasian appearance, a solid build and was wearing light coloured trousers.
