St Brigids St Louis stalwart Jeremy Heys had to leave Saturday’s match against Mentone at 4pm sharp.

He had a wedding to go to.

After Mentone made 6-194, Heys opened the batting for the Saints – and played a spectacular innings in the Cricket Southern Bayside Division 1 clash.

The left-hander was caught on the boundary at 3.59pm.

He’d made 106 off 49 balls, with 10 fours and 8 sixes, an innings Saints captain Liam Harris called “the best I’ve seen’’.

But his was a lone hand: St Brigids St Louis fell for 182 in 30.4 overs.

“Obviously there’s a small boundary at Mentone and from ball one he was just hitting it over mid-wicket and over cover for fun,’’ Harris said.

“He hit three sixes in a row off the spinner. A couple of times he hit 25, 26 off the over.

“It was just unbelievable to watch. The best innings I’ve seen and no doubt one of the best everyone at the ground had seen.’’

Heys was caught on the boundary at 3.59pm – and sprinted from the ground to his car and took off for the wedding.

He is one of the club’s most decorated players: two years ago he led it to the T20 crown in the Dandenong District association.

Harris said his team “choked’’ after Heys went out.

“We sort of fell on our sword,’’ he said.

“We couldn’t back him up unfortunately.’’

Consistent Simon Cormie (72) and fellow opener Josh Fisher (41) supplied most of the runs for the Tigers.

Mordialloc captain Damith Mapa Ralalage stroked 64 not out to guide his team to a thrilling 6-171 and past Dingley’s target of 7-169.

Mapa Ralalage hit 10 fours and 1 six as the visitors got home with one ball remaining.

McKinnon replied with 9-195, Endeavour Hills recruit Vinu Mohotty doing best with 64.

Opening bowlers Tom Williamson and Ed Curwen both took three wickets for Brighton District as it hustled out Chelsea for 106 after making 9-161.

In Division 1, Clayton District stayed unbeaten by hitting 3-179 in reply to South Caulfield’s 178. There were more runs for opener Brendan Lazarus (51) and Prabhjot Singh (63).

Parkdale United (203) held out Carnegie (195), for whom Dayalan Sampath made 99; Harrison Bean hit 57 not out as Bayside (7-169) edged past Port Melbourne (8-168); and Middle Park (9-201) was too strong for Cheltenham (8-180).
