A crown was set on South Caulfield all-rounder Bradley Erasmus’s kingly season when he won Cricket Southern Bayside’s Championship Division MVP last Friday night.
In the count at Woodlands Golf Club, the 21-year-old Englishman polled 37 votes to nose out Beaumaris captain Sam Coates (35) and 2016-17 MVP Dan Mueller of Bonbeach (31).
It was no surprise Erasmus topped the count.
In his first season for South the right-hander peeled off 912 runs at an average of 60.8, including a hand of 206 against Bentleigh, one of his four centuries.
He also took 26 wickets at 21.4, helping South to the premiership.
Hampton’s Dan Forbes was fourth with 28 votes, and Beaumaris all-rounder Chris Hall and South Caulfield’s Jon Curtis equal fifth with 23.
Murrumbeena captain Brad Kruger made it back-to-back victories in Division 1.
Kruger polled 42 votes to win by 15 from Bayside all-rounder Nick Oxley (27) and Mentone’s Matthew Walker (24).
Kruger nabbed votes in eight matches as he scored 778 runs at 64.8 and took 21 wickets at 17.5.
Cheltenham veteran Scott Neeson took the Division 2 MVP with 28 votes, one more than runner-up Calum Ravesi.
Port Melbourne’s English fast bowler Ollie Bocking was next with 26.
Neeson played only seven matches but polled votes in all of them. He made 229 runs at 57.3 and took 20 wickets at 10.6.
Omega’s Jordan Cooper was the inaugural winner of the CSB women’s MVP for her 193 runs at 96.5 and 18 wickets at 6.4.
