A suburban real estate agent plans to fight allegations he is a serial rapist, after detectives charged him over incidents dating back up to six years.

Simon Sillas, 26, of Caulfield faced the Melbourne Magistrates Court for the first time on Monday, charged with three counts of rape.

Mr Sillas, who works in the Stonnington office of agency Biggin Scott, was last month charged by detectives from the Bayside sex offences team.

One of the allegations date from March 2019, while two others date from May 2021.

Ms Sillas did not enter a plea in court on Monday, but his legal aid lawyer said the charges were “significantly dated” and were likely to be contested.

The court heard Mr Sillas planned to hire a private lawyer in coming weeks.

The circumstances of Mr Sillas’s alleged offending were not detailed in court, and redacted documents only reveal the dates of the alleged offending.

It is alleged that on each occasion, Mr Sillas sexually penetrated a woman without her consent, and did not reasonably believe the woman consented to the penetration.

Mr Sillas was charged on summons and a prosecution application to place him on bail was formally refused on Monday.

Real Estate listings show Mr Sillas has a thriving practice as a rental agent in the Windsor and Prahran areas.

Mr Sillas will return to court at a later date.
