WHEN a Southland shopper went to bed on Saturday he had no idea that he was already $1.3 million richer.
The regular TattsLotto player from southeast Melbourne was in utter disbelief on Monday morning when he learned he’d won more the division one prize for Saturday’s lotto draw.
“Are you having me on?” the winner asked when told the news.
“I’m in shock.
“This is wonderful news — I can’t wait to tell my family.”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, buys two 12-game entries every week using the same numbers he’s been playing for years.
The division one winning ticket was bought from Southland Lotteries, Cheltenham.
The retiree was one of three winners Australia-wide who each won $1,376,814.83 in the June 17 draw.
He plans to share his winnings with his family and charity.
“I’ll definitely use the money to help my family,” he said.
“They are so good to me; it will be nice to do something special for them.
“I’ll also donate to charity — there’s a cause that’s very close to my heart.”
Southland Lotteries last sold a division one winning TattsLotto entry in April 2016 with a prize of $1.08 million.
