Primary students join poppy project to commemorate Anzacs
BENTLEIGH primary school students have joined scores of people stitching poppies to help commemorate our Anzacs.
TUCKER Road Bentleigh Primary School students have joined scores of Glen Eira people stitching for the Poppies Community Project to help commemorate our Anzacs.
The students have been cutting, designing and sewing fabric poppies as part of the Glen Eira Poppies Community Project, which invites the community to create poppies to showcase while marking 100 years since Australia entered World War I.
Teacher Yvette Barton said students created “fantastic” designs.
“They loved it, it’s a wonderful project, they have been sewing at lunch times and after school,” she said.
About 25 of the poppies the children made will go on display at Glen Eira town hall, while the remaining poppies will be used for an exhibit at the school.
The Glen Eira Town Hall display is from April 8 to May 17.
