A staff member at Ormond McDonalds has tested positive for coronavirus.
In a letter sent to parents at McKinnon Secondary College and seen by the Leader, principal Pitsa Binnion said the staff member had likely been symptomatic while working a shift at the North Rd restaurant on Saturday, July 18.
“I have been informed that there was a positive case of an employee at McDonald’s in Ormond where a few of our students work and families visit,” Ms Binnion said.
“This employee (not a McKinnon student) was probably symptomatic on Saturday.
“DHHS will obviously undertake the necessary contact tracing and will ring any students who may have been in contact with this employee.”
A McDonald’s spokesman confirmed the staff member had tested positive and was self-isolating at home.
The store has been closed and will undergo a deep clean.
“We have advised all identified workplace close contacts to self-isolate for 14 days and seek medical advice if they feel unwell or show any symptoms,” the spokesman said.
“We plan to re-open the restaurant following completion of the deep clean.
“Every day, in every shift across all our restaurants, our employees continue to follow strict cleaning, sanitisation, quality control and hygiene procedures.”
