The frightened family of a missing Langwarrin grandfather fear he may be lost in thick bushland as he suffers from dementia.
Fears are growing for avid cyclist Malcolm Bohmeyer, 71, who has not been seen since he left his Cranbourne Rd home to go for a bike ride about 1.30pm on Wednesday.
The grandfather of seven’s concerned family gathered at his favourite track at Langwarrin Flora and Fauna Reserve, where 47 SES volunteers and 31 police officers were trawling through scrub on Friday afternoon.
Wife Geraldine fought back tears as she announced her husband required immediate medication for advanced Parkinson’s.
She said she was worried he could suffer a stroke or heart attack or would be left unable to walk without it.
“I’m very frightened, he’s been very unwell for two days and I’m scared he’s had a stroke or heart attack … that’s my main concern,” she said.
“He should have been found by now so I’m just hoping he’s here.”
Frankston Local Area Commander Inspector Paul Cripps said police believed Mr Bohmeyer could have come off his bike and was sheltering in scrub or a nearby house.
He was riding a black mountain bike and wore a black long sleeved shirt with grey track pants and a blue helmet.
“Our real concern is that he’s become unwell and wandered off the tracks and into the bushes,” Inspector Cripps said.
“The terrain of the park is very thick and very hard going.”
