Moorabbin’s one-stop party prop shop is gearing up for the spooky season.
The team behind prop-hire shop Hirestyle is getting into the spirit for Halloween, and the Joyner St warehouse is stacked with all the knick knacks necessary to help trick-or-treaters deck out their celebration.
Scary skeletons, giant gargoyles, candlesticks and cobwebs with creepy crawlies are all available to hire at the event wonderland, which is owned by Brighton East mother-of-two Caroline Ryan.
Working on exclusive parties at the Melbourne Cup, Grand Prix and Australian Open, Ms Ryan has added the ‘wow’ factor to countless events during her 20 years in the business.
But Ms Ryan said one of her favourite parts of the job was decking out everyday soirees.
“I really love giving all people the opportunity to make their event their own,” she said.
“It can be very overwhelming organising your own event, so it’s nice to have someone come and take that stress away and tell you what looks great and what will work. It’s nice to feel like it’s not all up to you.”
Hirestyle has all the gear to transform weddings, birthdays, holiday parties and corporate events from top to bottom, with the specialist team able to find the perfect match for any theme.
Party hosts can choose from a range of trinkets for the tabletop including food platters, grazing tables and lights, and items for the floor like specialist backdrops, greenery, multi-coloured cushions and metal frameworks.
Some items can also be organised for customisation.
Ms Ryan said the sustainability factor of her business was a big winner with customers looking to save their pennies.
“Some people spend more than $200 buying props for their party and never use them again … it’s crazy, why would you want to do that?” she said.
“With Hirestyle, you can pick items and return them, and then come back for something fresh for your next event.”
As the team gears up for the busiest time of the year, Ms Ryan said she wanted to make sure she helped give each event its own special touch.
“There is a joy you get from helping create someone’s special day,” she said.
