Melbourne Storm powerhouse Cameron Munster and Melbourne Demons superstar Max Gawn are trading their footy boots for cricket bats and going head to head at the Last Man Stands Pre-Boxing Day T20 charity cricket match.
The match between Australia and New Zealand teams will be played for the Primary Club of Australia at North Port Oval, Port Melbourne on December 22.
Ten-year-old Austin, who has lived with cerebral palsy his whole life and is an avid fan of Munster and the Storm, is official mascot and will perform the coin toss.
“Austin is super excited and can’t wait to be involved; creating awareness of the need for kids and people with disabilities to be active and most of all feel included is vital in the community, ” Austin’s father, Jason Reid, said.
Sledging between the celebrity captains has already started, with Australian skipper Munster posting on his Instagram account and advising New Zealand captain Gawn to “wear your helmet, mate”.
Entry is by gold coin donation and all profits will go to the Primary Club of Australia, a charity aiming is to provide people with disabilities access to sporting equipment and facilities.
