A young man allegedly at the centre of a car crash which killed a woman at Carrum has been identified.
Jasper Milon, 21, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a brief filing hearing on Wednesday over the horror smash which claimed the life of a 75-year-old Chelsea woman in November.
Milon, of Berwick, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, careless driving and fail to give way at an intersection.
Police allege Milon’s Toyota HiLux ute collided with the woman’s Mazda sedan at the intersection of Station St and McLeod Rd just before 7pm on November 10.
“The driver and sole occupant of the Mazda was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but died on 12 November,” a police spokeswoman said.
The crash came months after the intersection was transformed in a bid to improve safety as part of level crossing removal works.
Boomgates were removed and the area’s two arterial roads — McLeod Rd and Nepean Hwy — were connected, with dedicated lanes introduced for traffic turning right into McLeod Rd from Station St.
Magistrate Donna Bakos bailed Milon to return for committal mention on June 29.
