An angry ice-addict upset at not being able to buy drugs has taken his frustration out on police by calling a sergeant a goose and mutt before threatening to “f***ing smash” his head in”.

The cross crim, whose violent history includes being a kneecapping victim four years ago, also threatened to “cut up” a family and burn down their house after smashing their window.

Michael Bondarenko pleaded guilty to weapons, threatening to assault an emergency worker on duty, resisting arrest, criminal damage and false number plate charges at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning.

The court heard the Clayton 34-year-old went to an acquaintance’s Cheltenham home and told the woman homeowner he was “there to score drugs” about 6pm on November 11 last year.

After the woman said she didn’t have any drugs, Bondarenko went to his van, picked up a knife and a tyre iron and smashed a house window.

He told the woman he would cut her family up and burn down the house before leaving in his van.

The woman called police, who knew Bondarenko from previous crimes and went to his house at 8.15pm.

He was taken to Moorabbin police station where, while being explained his bail conditions, he clenched his fists and launched into a verbal tirade, calling the sergeant all manner of animal names.

Bondarenko told the sergeant that he would find out where he lived and cave his head in.

It took four police officers and capsicum spray to subdue Bondarenko, who was then — unsurprisingly — had his bail revoked.

The court heard police had searched the same van — which had false plates attached but real ones inside, a month before and found two knuckle dusters, a knife and an extendible baton.

Bondarenko’s other priors included assaulting PSOs, recklessly cause injury, affray, weapons, dangerous driving during a police pursuit, and theft.

His defence lawyer said the carpenter had been unable to manage his emotions, “resulting in outbursts of violence”.

The lawyer said his client had only recently disclosed his ice addiction and was now prepared to undergo counselling and treatment.

Magistrate Anne Goldsbrough said Bondarenko’s crimes were serious and he deserved to be imprisoned, with a combination order his most likely prospect of rehabilitation.

Bondarenko was jailed for eight months, minus 186 days already served in custody, and upon release must do a two-year community corrections order with 160 hours of unpaid work and drug and anger management counselling. He was also fined $850.
