A new food and wares market will spring up at the former Phillip Morris cigarette factory in Moorabbin this month.

Good Commons is part of the $100 million regeneration project to transform the site into a vibrant community hub.

The market will host up to 14 food trucks and 66 stalls featuring makers, artisans and producers.

Held on the third weekend of the month, starting November 16 and 17, the dog-friendly family market will also have a dedicated kids’ zone and regular live music performances at its site in Morris Moor, developed by Up Property.

Good Commons director Allison Reid said the team had tried to create “something that the locals are proud of”.

“Every person that walks through the gate will experience something different — we want it to be memorable, inviting, exciting and fun,” she said.

The market is a fully licensed venue with a central beer garden by Stomping Ground Brewery Co, which has been named Australia’s best brew pub three years in a row.

Stomping Ground’s Steve Jeffares said market goers would be given a taste of what’s to come ahead of the brewery’s permanent venue opening at Morris Moor next year.

Once complete, the multimillion-dollar development will feature modern office spaces, onsite childcare, coffee roasters, and several cafes, as well as the monthly market.

“We always envisaged, from the inception of Morris Moor, the idea of community engagement and creating a social space to brings people together to interact and connect,” Up Property managing director Adam Davidson said.

“Morris Moor’s ethos and the values of Good Commons are aligned in what they want to deliver for the local community.

“We set out to create something more, to reinvent an iconic site and reinvigorate the community both directly on-site and in the areas surrounding Morris Moor.”

Good Commons is at 19 Cochranes Rd, Moorabbin.
