The supremo of a South Melbourne brothel known as “Australia’s best and only 6-star” brothel has been accused of illegally operating a sexual service business.

Frank Patrick Puleo, boss of 24-hour brothel Gotham City, has been hit with 12 charges, which include possessing multiple drugs and more than $65,000 cash, according to court documents obtained by Leader.

Puleo has been charged for allegedly knowingly carrying on a business as a sexual service provider without holding a licence from May 25 to June 6, 2019.

He has also been charged with recklessly carrying on a business as a sexual service provider without a licence, for failing to have proper control and supervision of a brothel and for living on or deriving a material benefit from the earnings of sex work during that time.

It is not known whether the charges relate to the Gotham City premises on Clarke St or to another South Melbourne business.

However, there were reports police did raid Gotham City on June 6, 2019.

Puelo is also charged with dealing with $65,290 of cash, suspected of being proceeds of crime on June 6, 2019.

Quantities of cocaine, amphetamine, MDMA and Kamagra oral jelly were also allegedly found in his possession at South Melbourne on that date.

Puleo will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this month.
