This is not the shower companion most have in mind.
But Elwood homeowner Marc van Hoof was still pleasantly surprised to find a possum curled up on the shower soap rack at his Wilton Grove house yesterday.

Mr van Hoof said the ringtail possum lived in a tree out the front of the house, which was currently vacant, and appeared to have snuck in through a bedroom window left open during renovations.
“It’s been vacant for a month or so and I’ve gone in with a plumber to replace the shower base and there it was,” Mr van Hoof said.
“I love possums — they’re just super cute.”
Mr van Hoof said in the 10 years he had lived at the property he’d never had a possum come inside, but this one appeared to be “semi-house trained”.
“It’s come in through a bedroom window but also been downstairs, because there’s droppings on the floor.
“He also peed on the toilet seat — unfortunately the seat was down,” he said.
Mr van Hoof said the possum was asleep when they found it, and they placed a towel over it and took it back to its tree.
“He was fine, ran straight back up his tree.”
Mr van Hoof said he would re-market the pet-friendly property as “pets included”.
