Two fires at a Bayside golf course are being investigated after a pro-shop and a playground were set ablaze overnight.
Emergency services were called to the Edithvale Public Golf Course at 3.18am on February 6, after multiple calls to 000.
Three CFA units responded to the grass and structure fire at the Fraser Ave course, where they found the pro-golf shop and two council bins engulfed in flames.
Firefighters fought to control the fires, declaring the fire safe at 4.05am.
A CFA spokesperson said crews from Casey, Edithvale and Narre Warren handed the scene over to police for investigation.
The fire destroyed the pro-golf shop and left significant damage to the bins, alongside damage to a public playground in the same vicinity.
A spokesperson from Victoria Police said the Moorabbin detectives were investigating the fires.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the fire are yet to be established,” they said.
“Police are still investigating whether they are linked to other fires that have occurred in the area.”
This investigation comes after three fires in Chelsea and Chelsea Heights late last week were deemed as suspicious.
