A group of thugs nicked two cars from Bentleigh East before embarking on a brazen crime spree across Melbourne’s southeast, police say.

Two women were reportedly inside their Niki Ct home about 1am on February 6 when an unknown number of crims made their way into a car—which had been left unlocked in the driveway—and used a garage remote from inside to gain entrance into the property.

The occupants were unaware as the offenders stole two pairs of keys from inside the house before taking off inside two other cars.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said there was no interaction between the women and the offenders and no one was hurt during the incident.

“A stolen vehicle was then used during a theft from motor vehicle and deception offences in the southeastern suburbs on February 8,” A Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

“It’s believed a man used a stolen credit card to make unauthorised transactions in Springvale South and Keysborough.”

Investigators have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is perceived to be Pacific Islander appearance with a medium build.
