Youth steals girl's bike in Bentleigh East

A Bentleigh East girl has been left devastated after a youth stormed her family’s front yard and stole her bike.

CCTV footage seen by the Leader shows a group of four young people walking past Kirsty Lentine’s house before one runs up the driveway and takes her 10-year-old daughter Hannah’s bike from the garage at 3.30pm on Saturday, June 15.

The bike has since found in several pieces in a nearby street.

Ms Lentine said the family, which was inside at the time, had been left “violated” by the theft. She said the theft was opportunistic and left her family with security concerns.

“I just find their ballsiness unbelievable,” she said.

“We’ve lived here for 10 years now and recently we’ve noticed it has become more unsafe. There’s been drug busts and we’re seeing crime always crop up Facebook community pages, too.

“We hope this type of opportunistic theft doesn’t happen to anyone else as it does shake up the whole family.”
