VIDEO: Police release CCTV of alleged Box Hill petrol station thief after Toyota Hiace stolen from Carlton

Police say new CCTV footage may help their investigations after a man allegedly used a stolen van from Carlton to steal fuel and other items across Melbourne.

Police are on the hunt for a man who used a stolen van to allegedly help himself to more items, including the petrol to fuel his spree, across Melbourne.

Maribyrnong detectives have released CCTV and are appealing for witnesses following two thefts and a burglary at Carlton, Box Hill and Maribyrnong last year.

Investigators believe a white Toyota Hiace was stolen from a Bouverie St, Carlton address about 10pm on April 23.

Police believe this man may be able to assist their investigation into two thefts and a burglary at Carlton, Box Hill and Maribyrnong last year.

An unknown man then attended a petrol station on Elgar Rd, Box Hill in the stolen van about 7am the next day.

Police believe the man filled up the Toyota with $48 worth of petrol, before entering the store, grabbing a number of items and driving off without making an attempt to pay.

The footage released overnight shows the store attendant had chased after the man but was unable to stop him.

The following day, on 25 April, police allege the same man stole an Optus Wi-Fi router and large battery from a pop-up store on Maribyrnong Rd.

This Toyota Hiace was stolen from a Bouverie St, Carlton address in April last year.

 
The man is perceived to be caucasian, medium build, about 180cm tall, with black hair in his late 20s.

He was seen wearing a T-shirt with a yellow circular emblem, blue jeans, black cap, black mask and had a black satchel.
