It’s set to be a star-studded Christmas funfest for all ages, with thousands of people ready to experience everything Stonnington’s free Christmas concert series has to offer.
Christmas at Central Park and Carols at Como Park will include a cast of Australian music artists, theatre performers and local legends, with proceeds to go to a good cause.
Stonnington Mayor Steve Stefanopoulos said money raised would go youth LGBTIQ charity Minus18, which provides services and events across Australia.
“Now, when guests enjoy our Christmas concerts, they are spreading that festive cheer a little further by helping to stamp out LGBTIQ discrimination and support our city’s next generation,” he said.
All performances will be supported by the Stonnington City Brass and South of the River Choir, with a special visit by Santa.
The festivities start with Christmas at Central Park to be held on Sunday from 7.30 to 9.30pm at Central Park in Malvern East.
Hosted by award-winning pop rock artist and Eurovision entrant Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi), this year’s event will feature performances by Jason Heerah (2014 Australian X Factor performer), Fem Belling (South African-born vocalist and violinist) and Stonnington-based theatre performer Blake Bowden (The Book of Mormon, Fiddler on the Roof, South Pacific).
One of the largest free Christmas concerts in Victoria, Carols at Como Park will be held next week on Sunday, December 15, from 7.30 to 9.30pm at Como Park, South Yarra.
Singer and actor Rob Mills is set to host and perform, supported by Isaiah Firebrace (2016 Australian X Factor winner), Alexis Van Maanen (GFO and Opera Australia’s 2017 Evita) and Jude Perl (multi-award winning singer, songwriter and comedian).
