Canterbury, St Kevins continues undefeated VAFA seasons

CANTERBURY continued its undefeated Division 4 season with a 38-point win over Box Hill North on Saturday.
Canterbury extended its lead at every break to run out 14.15 (99) to 9.7 (61) winners.
Rohan Walmsley was the leading scorer, booting four goals, while Nicholas Szabo and James Wilson added three and two respectively.
Walmsley was judged best afield, while Thomas Lowden and Michael Peel also impressed.
In Premier B, St Kevins Old Boys also continued an undefeated run with a 86-point win over Old Melburnians, 20.17 (137) to 7.9 (51), this week.
Steven Salopek was the leading goal scorer, booting four majors.
Billy Kanakis, Bradley McCann and Lachlan Nankervis were all among the best.
In the Premier division Old Scotch lost to De La Salle Old Collegians by 29 points.
In a game that may prove important in the fight against relegation, Old Scotch went down 14.10 (94) to 10.5 (65).
Heath Northey was best afield in the loss, while Ashley Lim also impressed.
In Premier C, Old Camberwell suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Monash Blues.
Old Camberwell struggled all day before going down 21.12 (138) to 8.8 (56).
In Division 1, Kew lost its first game of the season, going down to Old Geelong by 13 points.
Despite scores being level at three-quarter time, Kew faded as Old Geelong saluted 11.15 (81) to 10.8 (68).
Elsewhere in Division 1, St Mary’s Salesian lost to Whitefriars Old Collegians by 91 points.
St Mary’s Salesian trailed from start to finish, before succumbing to the Friars 23.9 (147) to 8.8 (56).
In Division 3, Hawthorn defeated Powerhouse by 11 points, 11.11 (77) to 10.6 (66).
Jason Ince was the leading scorer, booting four majors, while Jess Kenneally was judged best afield.
Also in Division 3, Swinburne University had a bye.
