A South Yarra nightclub has won the right to make some noise — but nothing too loud — after getting the Stonnington Council green light for music to be played on its rooftop terrace.
After initial concerns regarding the noise of the ‘amplified music’ allowed at Circus Bar at 199 Commercial Rd, many neighbours who registered opposition had their minds swayed.
The amendment allows for background music to be played between 2pm-10pm, while also restricting the number of people on the terrace to 80.
Cr Matthew Koce said the music was intended to be “background noise” in conjunction with “reception-style eating”.
“There was a lot of concern from residents, but we did some live testing and we have heard back … from residents that they are now very pleased to support the planning application,” he said.
