A KEW primary school community have been left fearful after a mum was attacked and robbed on her way home yesterday, prompting the principal to issue a warning.
In the May 21 message, school principal Julie David said the parent was walking home from the Cotham Rd school around 3pm when her attacker drove up nearby.
“A white car stopped and a man jumped out, pushed our parent over and stole her handbag containing her wallet and keys,” Ms David said.
She urged parents to be on guard and to talk to their children about “stranger danger”.
Box Hill Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Audley said the incident was being investigated.
A parent, who wished to remain anonymous, said the alert made her feel “unsettled”.
“You want to give kids that responsibility and trust that they can make that short walk to and from school safely,” they said.
“So it is really frightening when such a brazen attack can happen to a parent so close to the school and during broad daylight.”
