Malvern East burglary: Police release CCTV after tools taken

Boxes full of tools, including power tools, have been stolen from a Malvern East home. Police believe the thief spent about 20 minutes at the house filling trolleys with stolen goods. They have released CCTV vision of a man they want to speak with.

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak with in connection with a brazen burglary.

Boxes of tools were stolen from a Malvern East home on February 9.

Security cameras captured a man entering the property through a blue door, where Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives believe he spent about 20 minutes.

During that time the man allegedly loaded two trolleys with toolboxes containing tools and power tools, before leaving through a roller door backing onto Warley Rd.

Police allege the man entered the property, which is on Emo St just after 7.30pm.

Investigators have released images and CCTV of the man hoping someone from the public may recognise him.

“The man is described as having a tanned complexion and tattoos on his left arm,” Victoria Police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said.

“He was wearing navy track pants a black hooded vest, white T-shirt with the number 56 on the right shoulder and was carrying a black bag with red and white stripes.”
