EDUCATION in Kew will be given a $2.1 million boost this year if the State Coalition Government is re-elected in November.
Education Minister Martin Dixon last week announced Kew High School would receive the money for upgrades.
Kew Liberal candidate Tim Smith said the election promise would improve performing-arts facilities at the Burke Rd school.
“This $2.1 million investment will enable the Kew High School community to upgrade and refurbish its Renaissance Theatre,” Mr Smith said.
“These works will upgrade key infrastructure, dressing rooms, kitchen, levelling and surfacing to support the performing-arts studies of Kew students.”
Mr Dixon said the funding would allow the school to ensure students and families had better access to high-quality facilities and learning spaces.
Principal Clare Entwisle gave the announcement top marks, but said the school was not sure exactly how the funds would be spent.
“The details of how the funds will be used specifically will be clear after some further discussions,” Ms Entwisle said.
