A police dog has well and truly earnt some extra treats after finding three alleged crooks barking up the wrong tree in Prahran this week.
Zeus, a member of Victoria Police’s dog squad, played a starring role in two separate incidents, sniffing out a Prahran man who had allegedly broken into a BMW showroom at about 3am on January 21.
The 32-year-old was allegedly found hiding in a ventilation area and arrested by officers who had cordoned off the scene.
A day earlier, Zeus was on paw patrol and helped officers arrest two men linked to an alleged car theft.
Dog squad and mounted branch Acting Inspector Julie Seddon said the unit was proud of Zeus’ efforts following “a fantastic week” out on the beat.
“The squad is a valuable resource for frontline officers, particularly when responding to high-harm, high-impact offending that may put our police and the community at risk,” she said.
“Our officers and their dogs will continue to work hard to detect and deter crime and apprehend offenders, so that we can hold people who do the wrong thing to account.”
