Kindergarten kids in Armadale want new books and are counting on your help to make it a reality.
Armadale Early Learning Centre teacher Lia Amado said the kinder nominated for a $1000 Leader Local Grant in the hope the kinder could bring its “outdated” library’s collection into the 21st century.
“The kindergarten has been here for 41 years so as you can imagine some of the books in our library aren’t really reflective of our modern day values of inclusion,” Ms Amado said.
“The values the kindergarten holds I think is reflected by the books we communicate to the kids so that’s why we’ve applied for the grant.”
Ms Amado said she was excited by the possibility of winning the grant to help update the library.
“Books are one of the ways we can bring all of our children together,” she said.
Ms Amado said the library needed books to reflect the centre’s children, who were from a diverse range of cultural and language backgrounds.
It is not the first time the centre has nominated for a Leader Local Grant — in the past it has applied for new furniture and musical instruments.
