A jealous French woman glassed a female bartender over a love rival after gulping down 16 alcoholic drinks celebrating her birthday at a swanky South Yarra bar.

Cindy Feyereisen, 31, pleaded guilty in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to recklessly cause injury.

Feyereisen, of St Kilda, glassed a 27-year-old female bartender after a heavy booze session at top tier South Yarra venue The Osborne Rooftop & Bar on January 27 this year.

The court heard the victim had been in a relationship with Feyereisen’s partner but the pair remained “close friends” and worked together at The Osborne after breaking up.

Feyereisen was “extremely jealous” of the friendship between her partner and the victim which “caused significant problems” in her relationship, the court was told.

Feyereisen attacked her victim after booking out the upstairs section of the Commercial Rd venue to celebrate her birthday.

Feyereisen, her partner and several other guests boozed on until midnight before making their way downstairs to kick on at the bar.

Tempers flared just after 2am when Feyereisen and her now husband got into a “heated argument”.

The partner broke it off with Feyereisen right there sending her into an angry twist.

Feyereisen marched up to the victim and glassed her face before fleeing the venue.

Witnesses called triple-0 after noticing blood gush out of the victim’s mouth.

The violence was also captured on CCTV.

The victim was taken to The Alfred with serious injuries including dental trauma and a fracture.

Feyereisen was charged after she handed herself into police on January 30.

Feyereisen admitted she “threw the glass at the victim’s face”.

“I saw her laughing at me after my fight with (my partner),” Feyereisen said.

“I was so angry and upset I couldn’t control myself … I didn’t want to hurt her, I only wanted to throw liquid at her.”

The court heard police indicated Feyereisen looked “visibly upset” and “remorseful” when shown photos of the victim’s injuries.

The victim said, in her impact statement read to the court, Feyereisen’s offending left with PTSD, anxiety and depression.

Feyereisen is hoping to avoid a conviction.

“I try to close my eyes and think it’s all a nightmare and I wish it was …,” the victim said.

“I started to have panic attacks and cry for no reason … I thought if I was somewhere, like the supermarket, someone would follow me and hit me …

“I was saying to my friend that Cindy was putting her friends to follow me, to hurt me, to kill me, to finish what she planned to do that night …

“I want my life back but I’m also scared of something happening …

“I feel like I can’t be happy again because if I do something bad will happen, someone will hurt me …”

Feyereisen will be sentenced at a later date.

Feyereisen has been in Australia on a student visa since 2016, the court was told.

The French national has since married her partner and runs her own beauty business.

The defence submitted a conviction could derail Feyereisen’s visa and she could be shunted back to her homeland.

Feyereisen, who has no priors here nor in France, will be sentenced at a later date.
