No charges will be laid against a woman suspected of laying dog baits in Armadale, after test results revealed there was no poison in the alleged baits.
The 52-year-old Prahran woman, arrested on April 5, was originally spoken to by police after allegedly being seen by a member of the public dropping a food-like substance along High St, between Glenferrie Rd and Orrong Rd.
“Laboratory analysis of this material has now concluded, with no indication any poisons were present in the substance,” police said in a post on the Eyewatch – Stonnington Police Service Area Facebook page.
Leader reported last month that a rising number of suspected dog baits had been turning up across Melbourne, leaving owners on edge.
Worried dog owners took to social media to report sightings of suspicious piles of meat in parks and on footpaths across Stonnington, the City of Yarra, Caulfield North, Montmorency and Kallista.
Anyone with information or CCTV surrounding suspected animal baiting incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
