A Doncaster East man facing rape and sexual assault allegations has had his bail extended as police work to get a complainant mentally assessed.

Gouyou Han, 61, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 16, facing three rape charges and 10 counts of sexual assault against three women.

Mr Han has been accused of sexually assaulting and raping three women at a Mitcham business in November 17 in 2023.

On Friday, the court heard police were still investigating the matter and were seeking to get one of the three complainants assessed for a “cognitive disorder”.

Mr Han will return to court in April as more evidence is gathered over the coming months.

Police prosecutor Louise Zubreckyj asked for a two-month adjournment to get the approval and appointments for the assessment organised.

Magistrate Peter Reardon was not impressed, asking why it would take more than six weeks.

“It’s not good enough,” he said.

“These matters should be dealt with expeditiously, not bureaucratically.”

The court heard DNA statements were also being prepared, “in relation to the complainants forensic results”.

Mr Reardon adjourned the matter to April 19 and extended Mr Han’s bail until then.
