Work has started on a massive 24-storey South Yarra office building, promising 360-degree views at its peak.
The 627 Chapel St development, which is on track to be finished by October 2021, is a $300 million project.
Goldfields managing director Marco Gattino said the building would set a new benchmark for commercial development and innovative office design while providing an alternative to Melbourne’s CBD.
With more than 24,000sq m of commercial space, as well as two levels of food and drink options, he said it showed the developer’s commitment to “offering a unique and progressive workplace for South Yarra, one that will change the landscape of the area”.
“With demand for premium office space within amenity-rich inner-city Melbourne suburbs like South Yarra continuing to strengthen, now is the ideal time to launch our first foray into the commercial property space,” Mr Gattino said.

Stonnington Mayor Steve Stefanopoulos said the development continued the almost two decades of council-led planning to create Forrest Hill in South Yarra as a genuine mixed-use planned precinct.
“This exciting project complements the mix of high-end, higher-density residential developments already completed or underway in this prized South Yarra location,” said Cr Stefanopoulos.
The tower, which is positioned between Toorak Rd and the banks of the Yarra River, will also feature outdoor terraces and indoor gardens.
